Kojima Productions has released the teaser trailer for its upcoming Death Stranding anime, Death Stranding Isolations, which is set to launch on Disney Plus in 2027.
While the anime is set in the same world as Hideo Kojima’s video game series starring Norman Reedus, it will tell a completely new story that is separate from the Death Stranding games. The story takes place in North America after Death Stranding hero Sam is able to reconnect the continentin new and unforeseen circumstances. Read more details from the press blurb below
In this tumultuous new landscape, there are some who walk a different path to the one chosen by Sam and his Bridges comrades: a wise old man who connects people through a method that defies all reckoning; a female soldier ensnared in a cycle of war and destruction; a boy who seethes with rage at the absurdity of his life… and of course, the girl who chose to sever all ties with the outside world…Fate has other plans for her, however, and chance encounters see her launched headfirst into a world she does not recognize.
Death Stranding was originally released for the PS4 in 2019 and later launched for PC and PS5 in July 2020 and September 2021, respectively. The game also came to Xbox Series X/S in November 2024. A full sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, arrived for the PS5 in June 2025.
