An animated series based on Death Stranding has been announced for 2027. Titled Death Stranding Isolations, the series will stream exclusively on Disney+ and other Disney services, expanding the world created by Hideo Kojima.
The story takes place in North America shortly after Sam, the original game’s protagonist, reconnects the continent through the Chiral Network. However, the renewed connections bring “new and unforeseen consequences” as the country begins rebuilding from the devastation.
The series follows a young girl who lost her mother during the Death Stranding, the catastrophic phenomenon in which the dead entered the world of the living and triggered devastating explosions. The synopsis describes her experience with the line, “My mom became a crater.”

Having lost her mother, the girl retreats into isolation and comes to prefer solitude over human connection. She lets fate guide her until a series of chance encounters draws her into an unfamiliar world.
Several other characters are also introduced, each following a path separate from Sam and his Bridges companions. They include a wise old man who connects people through an unconventional method, a female soldier trapped in a cycle of war and destruction, and a boy consumed by anger over the absurdity of his life.

Takayuki Sano is directing Death Stranding Isolations, with hand-drawn animation produced by E&H Production. The studio has previously worked on NINJA KAMUI, BULLET/BULLET, and the Magic Knight Rayearth television series.
The series is scheduled to premiere in 2027, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
