Welcome to your end-of-week recap of everything new on Netflix US! As we push further into July, Netflix has kept the summer momentum going with a solid batch of 35 new releases (22 movies and 13 series) hitting the library over the past seven days.

Whether you’re looking for prestige historical dramas, claustrophobic sci-fi thrillers, or a nostalgic reboot of a television classic, this week’s lineup has something for everyone. We also have the full Top 10 data ready to go, so we can see exactly what everyone has been bingeing this week!

First, let’s dive into our four streaming highlights for the week:

Best New Movies and Shows on Netflix This Week

    Don Jon (2013)

    Type: Movie
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance | Runtime: 1h 30m

Written, directed by, and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who is currently filming an AI film exclusive for Netflix), this sharp and energetic comedy is a fantastic weekend watch. It follows Jon Martello, a charming, fist-pumping New Jersey bartender whose life strictly revolves around his body, his pad, his ride, his family, his church, his boys, his girls, and his secret addiction to adult films. But when he meets the seemingly perfect Barbara (Scarlett Johansson) and the insightful Esther (Julianne Moore), Jon is forced to reevaluate his unrealistic expectations of love and intimacy. It’s a surprisingly heartfelt, funny, and perceptive indie hit.

Little House on the Prairie (Season 1)

    Type: TV Series
    Genre: Drama, Family, Western

Netflix has officially brought the beloved American classic back to the small screen! This brand-new, big-budget Netflix Original adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic books promises a slightly more grounded, cinematic take on the Ingalls family’s struggles and triumphs as they settle the harsh Midwest frontier in the late 1800s. Whether you grew up watching the Michael Landon series or are introducing the story to your family for the very first time, this is a beautifully shot, heartfelt weekend binge.

    Hamnet (2025)

    Type: Movie
    Genre: Drama, Historical | Runtime: 2h 15m

If you’re in the mood for some prestige, tear-jerking cinema, Chloé Zhao’s (Nomadland) stunning adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling novel has arrived on Netflix. Starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, the film offers a mesmerizing, fictionalized look at the life of Agnes Shakespeare (William Shakespeare’s wife) as she grapples with the heartbreaking loss of her young son, Hamnet—a tragedy that would eventually inspire one of the most famous plays in history. Featuring powerhouse performances, it’s an absolute must-watch.

    I.S.S. (2023)

    Type: Movie
    Genre: Sci-Fi, Thriller | Runtime: 1h 35m

Finally, if you’re after a tense, claustrophobic, and incredibly fast-paced sci-fi thirller, this 2023 entry is the perfect popcorn movie for a Saturday night. Starring Academy Award-winner Ariana DeBose, the film follows a group of American and Russian astronauts living peacefully aboard the International Space Station. However, when a catastrophic global war suddenly breaks out on Earth below them, both factions receive secret, conflicting orders from their governments: take control of the station by any means necessary.
