How to Rob a Bank, the upcoming action-comedy from director David Leitch (Bullet Train, The Fall Guy), has officially shifted its theatrical release date and time reportedly revealed”>release date
Originally set to lock down theaters on September 4, Amazon MGM Studios has officially pushed How to Rob a Bank back two months to a prime holiday slot on November 13.
Why The Release Date Shifted
According to Deadline, early testing and marketing data show that the 18-34 demographic is absolutely loving what they see. Because of that strong reception, the studio is moving the film closer to the lucrative Thanksgiving holiday frame to maximize its box office punch.
The move does reshape the fall box office landscape:
The new competition: The film will now face off against a crowded November slate, including J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond, Ti West’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol starring Johnny Depp, and the Sylvester Stallone biopic I Play Rocky.
What it leaves behind: By vacating early September, How to Rob a Bank avoids a direct showdown with Adam Wingard’s sci-fi actioner Onslaught (starring Adria Arjona) and the Mark Wahlberg crime drama By Any Means.
What’s It About?
Billed as a high-stakes cross between Point Break and the Fast & Furious franchise, How to Rob a Bank follows “a crew of social media-savvy bank robbers broadcasts their daring heists, unaware that their growing viral fame has put them in the crosshairs of a veteran FBI agent and a brilliant software engineer. Despite the unlikely duo closing in, the crime ring pushes past their limits, putting everything on the line for their beliefs – and their most ambitious heist yet.“
The star-studded ensemble cast includes:
- Nicholas Hoult
- Zoë Kravitz
- Anna Sawai
- Pete Davidson
- John C. Reilly
- Christian Slater
- Rhenzy Feliz
With John Wick and The Fall Guy director David Leitch at the helm, here’s hoping this heist flick shapes up to be something special.
Jason Statham Stole My Bike
Leitch has already shot his next project, and it’s one I’m very curious about. Plot details for the film, titled Jason Statham Stole My Bike, are being kept tightly under wraps. Statham stars “in the role of a lifetime, playing global action superstar Jason Statham.” While Statham isn’t primarily known for comedy, he has shown a sharp sense of humour when playing up his tough-guy image, most memorably in Paul Feig’s Spy. This meta-action premise sounds like a natural fit for his larger-than-life persona.
The film is slated for an August 6, 2027 release.
