Miley Cyrus is opening up about what makes her relationship with fiancé Maxx Morando so special.

The 33-year-old superstar discussed her relationship with the 27-year-old musician during a new interview with Zane Lowe while promoting her upcoming album Bass Persuades.

During the conversation, Zane asked Miley what it is about Maxx that makes her happiest and what makes their relationship so unique.

What Does Miley Cyrus Love Most About Maxx Morando?

“Well, there’s like a whole list of things. I can’t read you my vows, but the number one thing I think that I noticed from the beginning was we talked about the wisdom of a child and their unknowing is what makes them so brilliant,” Miley began.

“That’s what I love about Maxxthe most,” she continued. “I’ve been able to be in the room with some of the greatest producers and songwriters and artists of all time and they know too much. They’ve lost their questioning and like their searching because they know the answer.”

Mileyexplained that Maxx has a different perspective, in part because he grew up with a different generation of music.

“There’s some things that Maxx, my Maxx, knows that just comes from I think growing up in an era that I don’t completely understand,” she said.

She recalled one exchange from when they first met, saying, “One of the things I loved when I first met him was someone was like, ‘Oh, so you’re in a rock band, so you must listen to Nirvana.’ And he said, ‘I grew up on Migos.’”

“It’s not about, like, to him, those are rock stars,” Miley continued. “And that’s how I’ve always thought about music was this kind of like genreless flow.”

She added, “With Max, I think he understands the blur that I like to live in when it comes to music.”

Miley Cyrus Talks About Everyday Life With Maxx Morando

Later in the interview, Miley shared more about what everyday life is like with Maxx, saying that even doing little everyday tasks are fun when they’re together.

“Doing stupid stuff like that with somebody that you love and makes it fun,” she said. “I think that’s the thing that maybe generations prior didn’t teach us, that marriage doesn’t need to be a prison. It can actually be a playground.”

“And it makes it so much fun. Like constantly, it’s just living with a best friend. And that’s what it is,” she added, calling him a “mirror of myself, where I can see the best and the worst because his face tells me everything.”

“When I’m being charming, love the look he gives me. When I’m being a nightmare, it’s just so obvious.

Miley also revealed that after six years together, she recently worried for the first time about getting “the ick” after they get married.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, we’re about to get married. What if I get the ick?’ So I asked him, ‘What happens if you get the ick once you’re married?’ He’s like, ‘You deal with it and you move on and you don’t be a baby. The ick is for when you’re in fifth grade,’” she recalled.

She then admitted Maxx actually did something that briefly gave her “the ick,” prompting her to ask what would give him the same feeling about her.

“He said, ‘When you’re a brat,’ which is so true,” Miley said. “I’m so icky when I’m a brat.”

“I can see it now,” she went on. “I can see us in the truck. I want to go somewhere, he wants to go somewhere else. I get really stinky about it, and I just know what I’m doing, and it is awful. So everything in my life, Having that little bit of brat, it’s boss.”

“Brat is just like the cute version of boss. I’m just bossy. What is it? I’m not bossy, I’m the boss. I have that mug. I made that mug. That is my lifestyle choice. But what I also love is I’m not totally the boss in our house,” she said, adding that it’s “a sense of relief that I can actually soften into, because he’s going to watch this and be like, ‘You’re not the boss. We’re both the boss.’”

Miley Cyrus Talks About Her New Song “Let’s Get Married”

Miley also opened up about “Let’s Get Married,” one of the songs on Bass Persuades.

When Zane called it a “serious tune” and asked about the story behind it, Miley explained why the song is more direct than some of the other music on the album.

“I think I either try to say things in the most beautiful way possible or just spit it out,” she said. “So, this is a spit it out with some dreamy lyrics that give you beautiful visual cues like diamonds dancing on me.”

Miley said the song feels “very me” and compared some of its qualities to two of her biggest hits, “Flowers” and “Wrecking Ball.”

“I think it’s a song that people will feel like it’s their own,” she explained. “Certain songs don’t do that. ‘Flowers’ is one of my favorite cases of that ever happening. ‘Wrecking Ball’ has that too.”

“It’s a hit thing. I’ve noticed when people are like, ‘That song feels like it was written for me,’ or someone has their own story to it,” she continued.

To illustrate her point, Miley recalled recently meeting a fan while shopping at Target. The woman approached her in tears and told Miley about her relationship while explaining that she’d been listening to “Wrecking Ball” before “Flowers” turned things around for her.

Miley was more than happy to hear the story.

“By the way, I’m a sucker for tea,” she joked. “So, I was like, ‘And then what? And then what’d he do? What a jerk.’”

She added, “If someone’s going to tell me their life story and they’re going to spill, I’m going to sip it up.”

Miley and Maxxconfirmed their engagement in December 2025 after several years of dating.
