After securing a 3-2 win in the five-match T20I series, the Indian men’s cricket team will now face New Zealand in a five-match ODI series. World No. 1 ODI batter Shubman Gill will captain the visitors in the first three matches, while Shreyas Iyer has been named captain for the last two 50-over matches. The right-handed batter from Mumbai, who is the full-time captain of India’s T20I team, has not captained the Men in Blue in ODIs before and will make his captaincy debut on November 13.
The Kiwis, on the other hand, will play under the leadership of Mitchell Santner. They, however, suffered a double setback on Monday (November 2) when it was confirmed that Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman would miss the series due to injury-related issues. They have been replaced by Tim Seifert and Henry Nicholls in the squad.
For the one-dayers, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are back in the Indian team, and they will feature in all five matches. However, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the away series.
India suffered a 1-2 defeat against New Zealand in the last ODI series played between the two teams in January 2026 in India, and they will be eager to settle the scores in New Zealand.
