Lori Loughlin is returning as antiques-store owner and amateur investigator Jennifer Shannon in a new Garage Sale Mysteries movie on Hallmark!
The newest movie, Garage Sale Mysteries: Murder Takes the Stage, is the franchise’s first new installment in several years and the 17th movie overall.

How to watch Murder Takes the Stage
Murder Takes the Stage premieres on Saturday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, 7:00 p.m. CT on the Hallmark Channel.
It will become available to stream on Hallmark+ beginning the following day, Sunday, September 20. Cable viewers can use Hallmark’s channel locator to find out exactly what channel Hallmark is on in their region.

What is the new movie about?
Jennifer Shannon is hosting her true-crime book club and the group is conducting a reenactment of the Lizzie Borden case when a murder occurs. Jennifer gets roped into investigating the murder. Sarah Strange and Steve Bacic also star.

Why is the franchise returning now?
The original franchise run consisted of 16 movies beginning in 2013. Hallmark ended its relationship with Lori in 2019 amid the college-admissions scandal and the franchise paused. But Hallmark later resumed their relationship with the actress and Lori is also serving as a producer on the film.
Lori said returning felt like “coming home” in a new interview with Decider. She also commented on the timing of its release, which happens to come just days after Ryan Murphy‘s Netflix series Monster released its own take on the Lizzie Borden story.
“We had no idea,” she told the outlet. “But that’s exciting. I love all of Ryan Murphy’s stuff. I love Ryan and I think he’s a really nice man, too.”
Do you need to watch the earlier movies first?
Probably not. Each movie presents a largely self-contained murder mystery, although watching in release order provides more context for Jennifer’s family, business, and relationships.

Hallmark is advertising a full marathon of the Garage Sale Mysteries starting on Sunday September 20 at 10a/9c. You can check out the entire schedule here. Hallmark+ also has a large collection of the films, but it doesn’t look like every single one is available on there. Some of the individual films are also available to rent and purchase through digital storefronts.
Will there be an 18th movie?
Hallmark is calling the newest movie the return of the franchise, which seems to indicate they plan on making more, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Lori‘s involvement as a producer and the returning ensemble does appear to leave the door open for more.
