The 2026 Toronto International Film Festival kicked off this past week and there were tons of major premieres on Friday night (September 11). We’re recapping all of them in one place.
Chase Infiniti, Christopher Briney, Lisa, Taron Egerton, Ayo Edebiri, Rebel Wilson, James McAvoy, Gary Oldman, Chloe Bailey, and more stars hit the red carpet in Toronto to promote the premieres of their films.
TIFF is a major start to the upcoming awards season and the festival will give many film fans and critics a better idea of what to anticipate from the next year’s Oscars.
The Julia Set, starring Chase Infiniti, Christopher Briney, Chloe Bailey, and Jason Isaacs
Chase Infiniti, Christopher Briney, Jason Isaacs, Chloe Bailey, Nico Hiraga, Liz Lin, and Alex Dillard all went to TIFF on Friday night to promote their new movie The Julia Set!
Christopheralso brought along his long-time girlfriend Isabel Machado.

Always Lalisa, starring Lisa
Lisa stars in a new documentary film directed by Sue Kim. The doc is all about her stepping away from Blackpink for a year to launch her solo career.
Everybody Wants to F–k Me, starring Taron Egerton and Jessica Henwick
Taron Egerton takes the lead in the comedy thriller film Everybody Wants to F–k Me, which is described as a “darkly comic appraisal of modern dating and how some men signal virtues they don’t possess.”
Taron‘s co-stars Jessica Henwick, Charly Clive, and Herbert Nordrum also attended the TIFF premiere alongside him.
Girl Group, starring Rebel Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, and Randall Park
Rebel Wilson stepped out to the world premiere of her movie Girl Group, which she wrote, directed, and produced! Randall Park also joined her and Jennifer Coolidge attended the special RBC-hosted cocktail party in celebration of the premiere.
“Rebel Wilson writes, directs, and stars in this story of a pop star who, following a downward spiral, finds a new sense of purpose by assembling a bunch of young up-and-comers to form a group of their own,” shares the TIFF description.
Clarissa, starring Sophie Okonedo, David Oyelowo, and Ayo Edebiri
TIFF describes the movie as “a beguiling adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway set in contemporary Lagos” from filmmaking brothers Arieand Chuko Esiri.
David Oyelowo and Ayo Edebiri hit the red carpet for the premiere on Friday night.

Faith, starring James McAvoy and Erin Doherty
“The spark of romance offers a hard-working single mother (Erin Doherty, The Crown) the chance to imagine a different future. But after tragedy strikes, she discovers that the man she may be falling for (James McAvoy) is hiding a truth she couldn’t have imagined,” is how Faith is described by TIFF.
James McAvoy, Smylie Bradwell, and Paul Andrew Williams were in attendance at the Friday night premiere.
Magazine, starring Lukita Maxwell, Iris Apatow, and Delaney Rowe
Iris Apatow received support from mom Leslie Mann at the TIFF premiere of her drama film Magazine from writer and director Alexandra Pechman. Co-stars Lukita Maxwell, Delaney Rowe, Alex Edeman, Daniel Zolghadri, Joshuah Melnick, and Sasha Bhasin also attended.
“Set in New York’s cliquish literary scene, writer-director Alexandra Pechman’s feature debut chronicles the sentimental education of an aspiring poet (Lily McInerny, TIFF ’24’s Bonjour Tristesse) who becomes tangled in a web of eros, cultural gatekeeping, and office intrigue,” reads the TIFF description.
The Face of Horror, starring Jonah Haur-King, Kristine Froseth, and Leo Suter
“The Love Witch’s Anna Biller stunningly adapts the famous Japanese ghost story Yotsuya Kaidan for 14th-century England in this gory tribute to classic Technicolor shockers,” is the description for upcoming horror movie The Face of Horror starring Jonah Hauer-King, Kristine Froseth, and Leo Suter.
Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman, Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, and Aimee-Ffion Edwards
The highly-anticipated sixth season of Apple TV’s acclaimed spy thriller series Slow Horses premiered the first episode of season 6 on Friday night and several of the show’s stars were in attendance!
Trash Mountain, starring Caleb Hearon and Zooey Deschanel
Trash Mountain is a new comedy movie that made its premiere on Friday night. The film stars Caleb Hearon and Zooey Deschanel, they were also joined by their co-star Kyle Marvin. Caleb also co-wrote the script.
“After the death of their hoarder father in rural Missouri, two siblings (Caleb Hearon and Zooey Deschanel) reunite to sort through the baggage — both literal and emotional — in Kris Rey’s poignant and funny exploration of love and grief,” shares the description.
The Stunt Driver, starring Jay Baruchel and Ed Helms
Jay Baruchel and Ed Helms were at the premiere of their movie The Stunt Driver with writer and director Michael Dowse and co-stars Laurence Leboeuf and Dan Bakkedahl.
“Jay Baruchel and director Michael Dowse re-team for a raucous yet heartfelt comedy about a Canadian stuntman who dared to dream big and fly (very) high,” reads the description.
