The trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has been a long time coming. Granted, we had four teasers for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie earlier this year, but those were specifically designed to function as long-term teases attached to the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. In another decade, they may not have been released online (because they wouldn’t have leaked online, either).

One thing that wasn’t released online, however, was the trailer that was showcased at CinemaCon. Screened exclusively to audiences in attendance at the event, Marvel fans were convinced that the trailer footage would surface online in the hours, days, and weeks after the event. And yet, Marvel Studios withheld it – despite detailed footage breakdowns being available within minutes of its premiere.

Now, after a lengthy wait, a new report has seemingly confirmed when the trailer will be coming. And, well, it’s not really that surprising.

Avengers: Doomsday trailer reportedly set for San Diego Comic-Con

According to well-established industry insider The Beyond Reporter, Marvel Studios is expected to release a trailer online on Saturday, July 25, at 9:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. PT, which is highly expected to be none other than the first Avengers: Doomsday full teaser trailer. If you’ve been keeping up with all things Marvel for many years, then that won’t surprise you as that just so happens to coincide with the exact time that the studio will be taking to the Hall H stage at San Diego Comic-Con.

<a href="https://www.thewrap.com/creative-content/movies/marvel-studios-comic-con-hall-h-return-2026-avengers-doomsday/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>The Wrapconfirmed earlier this year that Marvel Studios would be making its long-awaited comeback to Hall H at SDCC this summer after they skipped it for the first time in years in 2025. The reason for that particular absence last year down to the studio’s decision to prioritize filming Avengers: Doomsday itself through the summer in the hopes of making it the best possible film that it could be. And, with The Fantastic four: First Steps wrapping up the Marvel Cinematic Universe’smovie slate for the year on that same weekend, they simply didn’t have anything on the film side of things to promote.

This new trailer report seemingly confirms fans’ long-standing theory that the trailer would be officially unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con after months of skipped opportunities. To put that in perspective, here is a list of all the events that Marvel could have released the Avengers: Doomsday trailer and ultimately chose not to:

    • Super Bowl LX (Feb. 2026) – Marvel skips ad spot for first time in 16 years
    • CinemaCon (April 2026) – trailer debut for crowd, not released online
    • The Mandalorian and Grogu(May 2026) – trailer not attached to fellow Disney film’s release
    • SXSW London (June 2026) – Major “event” teased was a Doctor Doom pop-up coffee shop
    • CineEurope (June 2026) – Footage shown to crowds, not released online

Looking at the list above, it’s easy to see why San Diego Comic-Con was the “endgame” on all fans’ minds for an Avengers: Doomsday trailer release. After all, if the studio has skipped every major arena in which it could have unveiled the first full teaser trailer for the movie, that left only the grandest stage of them all: SDCC.

Of course, SDCC has a special relationship with Avengers: Doomsday already. The year before they skipped it, that event saw Marvel Studios make history with an announcement that completely reshaped the future of the MCU and its Multiverse Saga, revealing that the divisive Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would become Avengers: Doomsday – with Kang the Conqueror officially being replaced as the franchise’s next Thanos by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. It was also officially confirmed that the Russo Brothers would be back to bring the next two Avengers movies to life.

With that in mind, MCU fans always expected Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige to return to the stage with the Russos, RDJ, and probably Chris Evans too in order to promote the movie at this year’s event. And with that level of promotion, a trailer is surely going to come. After all, this is where we all started the year expecting a first look trailer to surface; it’s Marvel who changed the game with their approach to early marketing, which resulted in fans expecting in much, much earlier than that.

See, we technically already saw four trailers to Avengers: Doomsday because of those character-centric teasers that were attached to the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash through 2025’s conclusion and 2026’s beginning. Those teasers featured the first looks at the returningChris Evans (Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, and James Marsden (the X-Men’s Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops), Letitia Wright (Shuri’s Black Panther), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing). And when the studio decided to push the promotion further at CinemaCon in April, fans have spent the past few months begging for them to release that trailer online.

With that exact trailer being so ingrained into MCU fans’ minds, it’s highly likely that Marvel Studios will unveil a brand new one at Comic-Con to offer up the beginning of a new, even buzzier era, as the countdown for Avengers: Doomsday begins reaching its final stages.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
