Todd Chrisley is coming to the defense of his daughter Savannah Chrisley as people online label her a “gold digger” amid her marriage to Jason Galanis.
Savannah, 29, has received a wave of backlash online after the news of her secretly marrying Jason, 56, went public, along with the reveal that they were expecting their first child together. They recently revealed the baby’s sex!
A significant part of the criticism stems from their 27-year age gap, but also because Jason is a convicted fraudster who previously served time in federal prison in 2020 after it was discovered he was connected to multimillion-dollar securities fraud schemes. President Donald Trumpcommuted his sentence in March 2025.
Todd and Julie Chrisley were also pardoned by Trump for tax evasion and bank fraud.
Todd Chrisley defends his daughter from “gold digger” accusations
On Friday (October 30), Todd, 57, came to his daughter’s defense during an episode of his Two Sons and Me podcast. Specifically, the Chrisley Knows Best star took issue with people calling Savannah a “gold digger.”
“There were comments today in the press about Savannah’s ring, the size of it, that she is engaged to a billionaire because she’s a gold digger,” he said, with his mom, Nanny Faye Chrisley, interrupting to say, “Oh, good. I don’t blame her. I’d dig, too. If I knew one and I stood a chance like her, I’d be digging 24/7, till I got him.”
Todd laughed at the comment, and then joked that if Savannah were what people claimed, “it would have helped out if she would have started digging when I was paying all these legal fees.”
He argued that Savannah has her own money
He went on to say that Savannah has her own money and doesn’t need to be a “gold digger.”
“What do they think this girl has done her whole life, from the time that the cameras started rolling? What do they think she did with her clothing line, with her cosmetics, that she didn’t make money? What do they think about Good Girl RX? How do they think this woman lives?” he argued.
Savannah has also responded to the criticism herself.
