Don’t Be Shy Review Movie Talkies:
It’s quite a downfall for Alia Bhatt to produce a film like Don’t Be Shy after Darlings on Netflix. That film was actually about a new phase of feminism, whereas Don’t Be Shy feels more like the unwanted sequels of SOTY 2 and Nadaaniyan coming together. No one wants to see SOTY 3 and Nadaaniyan 2, but Sreeti Mukerji and producers Eternal Sunshine Productions, Chalkboard Entertainment and Amazon Prime Video had other plans. This is full-time crap and shouldn’t have been made in the first place. There is absolutely no story here that you can relate to. You know how irrelevant SOTY was on Facebook at that time because nobody wants their school, college and teenage stories to be filled with posh-society issues and made to feel so soulless. Nobody goes to college in a BMW, nobody takes pills after a breakup, nobody fights with their parents over every little thing, nobody treats a college fest like World War III – so please stop that obsession and normalisation of high-profile society lifestyles, at least in college movies. 90% of Indians aren’t even aware of these things, and even 9% of the remaining 10% have no interest in watching these sickening movies. Then who the hell are you making these movies for? It’s just a big waste of time, money and talent, and all you get in return is negativity as a bonus.
Don’t Be Shy Story:
Don’t Be Shy is about a girl named “Shy.” That’s some beautiful attempt at making the title look metaphorical – don’t be “Shy” like Shy, the girl, and follow the regular “don’t be shy, be brave” philosophy. Shy has a perfect plan for her internship, education, job, boyfriend and marriage. But she’s too selfish, self-serving and immature. When her boyfriend decides to give up his father’s wealth and follow his passion for singing, she yells at him, leading to their breakup. The bad patch begins for her. Her boyfriend gets a new girl, Tara, and Shy becomes even more jealous. To add to that, she gets close to her childhood friend but soon becomes genuinely fond of him. In the meantime, Tara has won everyone’s attention, and Shy is losing everything. This childish situation is treated like some mature emotional conflict amid a useless college fest, and you’re left with nothing but two and a half hours of sheer boredom.

Don’t Be Shy Film Review:
The screenplay of Don’t Be Shy is a direct competitor to SOTY 2, Nadaaniyan, The Archiesand such elite crap. Instead of learning from the mistakes made by these movies, Don’t Be Shysimply reuses those templates to show what a big fool it is as a movie. It becomes even more ridiculous when these immature characters are given greater importance and suddenly we have topics like parenting, feminism and rebellion popping out of nowhere, making the whole thing even more senseless. What’s going on and why is it going on – you have no clue. Why are you even watching it? That’s the biggest question you’ll ask yourself while sitting through this film.
Don’t Be Shy Cast:
On the acting front, we might have found our new memes if this film had been released in cinema halls or had gone popular on OTT. Aarushi Bajaj, as Shy, is there, but WHY? That character is so stupid, and then you have to scream, have a life conversation with the camera and desperately convince your audience that you are relatable – all of that feels so helpless. Ansh Duggal is what a bullied boy in college looks like, while Piyush Khati is the show-off boy with very little brain. Performance-wise, both fail to leave an impact. Bianca Arora is annoying, and Kunaal Roy Kapur has simply wasted his time doing this film. Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia, Javed Khan, Anju Naik and others don’t even look interested in acting.

Don’t Be Shy Movie Review:
Don’t Be Shy is a lavish film, and the production design and cinematography make sure that you actually feel that. The colour grading and locations are also good. The dialogues, however, are laughable and disgusting at times, while the editing falters big time. Then there is another failure in the form of music. It is a gone case in almost every technical department. Sreeti Mukerji chose the wrong script to write and direct and deserves the credit for the film’s failure all alone. It’s humanly impossible to like anything in this movie, unless, of course, you have no brain and no sense of cinema. Good luck to everyone who’s going to survive this cinematic crap.
