On the 20th of August 2026, Riot Games officially ended support for2XKO,itstag fighting game. It had a… run, as a large number of the staffwerelaid off just weeks after launch, and then it lasted for less than a year, with a cancellation arriving just eight months after its official release. Ouch.
Riot Games issued a refund to all players for the cosmetics and champions they unlocked, and intends to keep the servers running, but itjust wasn’t profitable enough of a venture for the developer. Active development ends in December, which means that, in a strange and depressing twist of fate,2XKOis still getting updates for cool new champions that were slated for the 2026 launch.
Just a month before cancellation, during Evo 2026, the team announced the arrival of fan-favourite Luxanna Crownguard to the roster. Alongside her was the teaser announcement for the upcoming Samira, who was supposed to be the last champion of 2026 at the time, and a perfect fit for the fighting genre overall.
In the latest reveal trailer, however, the team announced that there would be a third final champion coming to2XKObefore active development fully pauses in December. This would be none other than Sett, perhaps the one character that should’ve been part of the launch roster alongside the likes of Riven, though the team opted to focus more on the hit Netflix showArcane, which took a major chunk of the roster.
The trailer showcases Samira in combat for the first half of the trailer, and then introducesnone other than Sett “The Boss”, the most fighting game–style character inLeague of Legendswho literally focuses on arena battling. One of the major complaints about2XKOwas the fact that a lot of fighting characters weren’t included in the release, so it has been a bittersweet moment for players who were looking forward to getting more fighters into the roster.
