Three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep has received a major production update for her upcoming Netflix drama series The Corrections. Fans now have a clearer idea of when the highly anticipated literary adaptation will begin filming.
According to What’s on Netflix, filming is now scheduled to begin on January 20, 2027, and continue through July 28, 2027. The production was previously targeting a November 2026 start. However, the dates remain subject to change.
HBO previously planned a 2011 adaptation starring Ewan McGregor and Dianne Wiest but ultimately abandoned the project. However, this update comes as Streep prepares for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew. The 77-year-old is reportedly set to voice Aslan in the upcoming Netflix adaptation.
What is Meryl Streep’s new Netflix show about?
The Corrections follows a Midwestern couple who plan
The Corrections follows a Midwestern couple who plan a Christmas reunion with their adult children as the family patriarch’s health deteriorates. The story explores the tensions between traditional midcentury values and modern cultural anxieties.
“The Corrections is a sharply comic portrait of a Midwestern family whose three unmoored adult siblings desperately resist their mother’s wish for one last Christmas together — each undone by the delusional ambitions that were supposed to save them from becoming their parents,” reads the official synopsis.
In the upcoming TV show, Streep is the only confirmed cast so far. She plays Enid Lambert, the family matriarch.
Netflix acquired The Corrections from Paramount Television Studios
Netflix acquired The Corrections from Paramount Television Studios several months ago. Academy-winning filmmaker Cord Jefferson is directing all episodes, with the novel’s author Jonathan Franzen adapting his own novel for the screen.
Streep also serves as an executive producer alongside Franzen, Jefferson, Mark Roybal, Paul Lee, and former Paramount Television Studios president Nicole Clemens. CBS Studios will produce the series.
Netflix has not yet set a premiere date for The Corrections, though a 2028 release window is expected following the mid-2027 production wrap.
