Alex Fine breaks down his death on MobLand Season 2
Alex Fine spoke to TV Insider about his character Donnie’s death in MobLand Season 2. Donnie, an enforcer for Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer), was sent to seduce Jan Da Souza (Joanne Froggatt). Jan ultimately discovered Donnie’s true identity and shot him in the neck.
Fine revealed he knew early on that Donnie’s story would end in death. “We talked about it in the beginning of the year,” he said. “We knew that Donnie had to come to an end at some point.” However, the actor did not know the specifics of how or when it would happen.
The actor expressed satisfaction with the way
The actor expressed satisfaction with the way his character’s arc concluded. “I’m very happy. Joanne Froggatt shot me in the neck. I think that was a good way for Donnie to go,” Fine said. He also admitted to feeling bittersweet about wrapping up his time on set after two years with the cast and crew.
Fine made clear that Donnie had no genuine feelings for Jan throughout their storyline. “I think there’s zero care for her at all,” he stated. “There’s no intention of telling her who he really is.” He confirmed Donnie would have killed Jan on Frankie’s orders without hesitation. “He’s not a good person and has no attachment,” Fine added.
Regarding Donnie’s role as Seraphina’s (Mandeep Dhillon) handler, Fine explained it was strictly business. “Donnie doesn’t really care about anything other than the job,” he said. Fine also shared a memorable fan encounter, recalling that a woman once threw an apple at him from her purse because she mistook the production for a reality show.
