I wear my heart on my sleeve, especially on social media, I value authenticity and that’s what I aim for, so I think people are essentially witnessing my mid-30s existential crises in real time. Couple that with a very dry sense of humor, which has always been my preferred coping mechanism, and sometimes the lines between satire and sincerity get a little blurry. Anyone who’s in this industry knows it can be an emotional roller coaster, and I think there’s something funny and human about acknowledging that. But no, I’m not quitting acting. At least not today. Ask me again next week.
Leven Rambin is calling herself a “sad failed actor” while announcing that she’s done with acting.
The 36-year-old actress is best known for playing Glimmer in the first Hunger Games movie, Audrey James in the CBS series Fire Country, Athena Bezzerides in season two of HBO’s True Detective, and Sloan Riley in Grey’s Anatomy. She got her start on the soap opera series All My Children and her film credits also include The Forever Purge, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and Chasing Mavericks.
Leventook to her TikTok account this week to discuss how things have changed in the acting industry.
I know I sound sassy and everything,
“I know I sound sassy and everything, but I do have a profound sadness that this dream I had as a little girl is something I’ve outgrown, or that just hasn’t worked out. It’s fading away,” Levenbegan.
“All of the sass and frustration masks a deep grief that this isn’t what I thought it was going to be at this point in my life, when I was a child dreaming about it. At a certain point, you have to reevaluate your life and be willing to let go of things. And it’s really hard to face that or experience that. It’s very scary,” Levensaid. “But ultimately, I think I’ve decided that the grief is worth it, because the constant grief of feeling undervalued, unwanted, unchosen and scared is more harmful.”
Someone left a comment noting that there are “unknown actors waiting tables and tending bar as they hope for their big break” and that none of them would “look at your list of credits and think you’ve failed anything.”
Levenreplied, I respect
Levenreplied, “I respect that. To me it’s a failure because it didn’t go the way I planned and now I’m done.”
Levenrevealed several months ago that she left the CBS series Fire Country after the most recent season so that she could focus on starting a family.
“A lot of you have asked, why did I leave Fire Country? I hope that it’s clear now why I left. I knew I wanted to start my family,” she said in July 2026.
She added, [It] was just not conducive
She added, “[It] was just not conducive to my timeline. I knew that there was some health things that I needed to prioritize in order to probably get to the road to having a family… If I push this by another year, I’m just pushing it by another year, which doesn’t serve me at all. So, I told them that and it’s all good. We ended on very good terms, and maybe I could pop back in one day.”
Levengot married last year to an event photographer. This summer, she revealed she’s “lucky to be alive” after complications from a surgery.
